According to research studies performed by the Cleveland Clinic, biologically, the act of giving can induce a “warm glow,” activating regions in the brain associated with pleasure, connection with other people, and trust. This is the reason one may feel excitement as they wait in anticipation to gift that special someone, or why one may feel an intense sense of happiness while driving back from volunteer type experiences. The Christmas season is a perfect example of this! In fact, evidence suggests that humans secrete “feel good” chemicals in our brains, such as serotonin (a mood-mediating chemical), dopamine (a feel-good chemical) and oxytocin (a compassion and bonding chemical) when committing acts of giving. Scientists have found that giving stimulates the mesolimbic pathway, which is the reward center in the brain — releasing endorphins and creating what is known as the “helper’s high.”
It is these reasons why Mai Tais is dedicated to giving back to not only our community, but your communities too!!
